The Holiday Bucket List
written by Amelia Bartlett
A grieving young writer is urged by her departed guardian to complete one last Holiday Bucket List before giving up on her dream.
When Jenna’s adoptive guardian, Sherri, dies right before the holiday season, Jenna is forced to face a looming deadline for her writer’s residency alone—with five days to go, her final submission barely halfway done, and her writing practice dry ever since Sherri got sick. To complicate things further, Jenna finds a letter from Sherri, imploring her to finish one last Holiday Bucket List without her.
With the help of some new friends, Jenna checks items off the list and rediscovers the spark that allows her to finish her story —giving her hope once more for her future.
Theme: For many, the holidays are a time of grief: remembering those we’ve lost and lamenting what the year could’ve been. Yet, the holidays also sparkle with hope, and it’s hard to ignore the magic that influences goodness all around.
